In both the collections by Stefania Carrera – Main Collection and Art Capsule – prints on fabric play an important role, whose techniques and processes are constantly evolving. Recent is the inclusion of panels mounted on wooden bases, sold as furnishing accessories: the designs are printed on canvas fabric and then mounted on the frame.
The techniques are various. They all start with a hand painted design realized with different treatments such as corrosion and discoloration salt, water colors at the bottom contrasted by more intense colors, degrade shades, overlapping panels of cloth folded and over-dyed, graffiti with brushstrokes forming spirals in contrasting colors. Then, the drawings are photographed with different techniques for each collection, and the images are digitally printed with ink-jet technology and then transferred onto different fabrics.
These prints are also used in the collection of scarves that is becoming increasingly rich in designs and colors. The same prints are used for T-shirts (with applied panels), blouses, dresses in different fabrics and cuts.
