Lombardy is the top player in the Italian fashion industry, and it is driven by the city of Milan, the Italian and international capital of Glamour, which continues to mark new records. The Italian city exports fashion merchandise and products for a total of 7.2 billion euro, representing one seventh of the national Italian exports. The city is followed by Florence and Vicenza. The other Italian main exporting cities are Treviso, Prato, Reggio Emilia, Bologna, Verona, Biella, Como, Piacenza and Bergamo. These facts and figures have been found out by a recent survey denominated “Italian fashion in the world”, conducted by the Chamber of Commerce of Milan, Monza, Brianza, Lodi and Promos Italia. The three top foreign destinations for Italian fashion products are: France, Switzerland and Germany. While France is the main partner for clothing articles, knitwear, tapestry, footwear and fur, Hong Kong excels for sporty clothing, Germany is the top importer for textiles, shirts, T-shirts and underwear, Switzerland for bags and leather products, and the United States for household linen. The highest growth rates have been achieved in China and South Korea, with a rise by +17.8% and +13.3%, respectively; also the United Kingdom has seen a significant increase.
