The runway by Luisa Spagnoli is an extraordinary “illustrated book” through which the Italian fashion house is celebrating its Ninetieth Anniversary. In particular, Luisa Spagnoli SS2019 collection recalls “creatures” who are expressing an innate, natural grace. The collection offers fabrics such as linen, silk, cotton, and different wool textures, without forgetting a touch of angora wool which represents the brand’s leitmotiv together with details such as flakes, polka dots, and valuable drapes.
The Mediterranean colour palette offers neutral hues with submarine blue transparencies alternating to bright colours which range from lemon yellow to azalea nuances – the result is an unprecedented collection. Skirts in pencil line are matched to bush-jacket shirts, Bermuda shorts and loose pants are worn under soft tailor-made jackets. With its typical double-breasted lacing, the pea jacket is now reinterpreted as a Haute Couture piece. If, for the formal occasions, floral outfits and chiffon shirts featuring drapes and asymmetrical patterns are prevailing, the evening outfit is sumptuous. Gowns made in overlapping fans and plissé Soleil georgette crepes are alternating to classical-style dresses in toga style. The result is an unprecedented and valuable collection hanging between “Palazzo jumpsuits” or Goddess’ timeless dresses.
