Gilberto Calzolari’s SS 20 “DUNE” to be soon in the Garage Showroom

The new collection is born from the “injuries and scars” inflicted to our Planet. Gilberto Calzolari has designed his new collection with the clear objective of contributing to the realization of a sustainable future. The top player is here a Nomad, Warrior Woman, who is fierce and self-determined while crossing in a post-technological desert world. A revolution-moving collection that does not give up its deeply feminine vocation.


In a physical and metaphysical desert, made of sand and industrial debris, emblematic dresses are taking their way, all realised in eco-friendly “cork fabric”, with unleaded Swarovski-decorated fringes; all clothing articles are Ultra High-Tech and they are realised through the upcycling of deflated airbags, thanks to a special partnership with Volvo Car Italia. With the use of belts, a remarkable dichotomy is defined: some are made in textile, widely wrapping the feminine body, while others are created by recovering car safety belts. Cinematographic references are not omitted. In particular, you can find references to the “Dune” movie by visionary David Lynch, but also to the post-atomic imagery of “Mad Max”: boundless sandy and debris lands in a Steampunk scenario.


Starting from this collection, Gilberto Calzolari grants the distribution to the Garage Showroom. “The Garage – Milan showroom is renowned for its ability in discovering and supporting the most interesting proposals in the international context, with a particular focus on Design brands. I am looking forward to presenting to buyers and to the Press my next collection, which I consider to be as the most powerful, surprising collection I have ever created so far”, the designer has said to comment on the partnership entered last August.
