The names of the ten semifinalists at the first edition of the Green Carpet Talent Competition sponsored by CNMI – the Italian National Chamber for Fashion have been revealed. Among the first ten semifinalists, the best five candidates will be selected for the final contest of new talents, which is going to take place at Teatro La Scala on September 24. For the occasion, the winner of the GCC Award in the best emerging designer category will be announced.
For the realization of their creations, all participating designers will be asked to follow the guidelines on sustainability indicated by Eco-Age (the Green Challenge Principles of Sustainable Excellence). The Eco-Age Principles relate to the different social-environmental impacts which are normally generated by the fashion industry.
The GCC Fashion Award jury will include Elaine Welteroth (editor at Teen Vogue), Derek Blasberg (writer, editor and anchorman at CNN Style TV show), Mira Duma (CEO and founder of Fashion Tech Lab), Carlo Capasa (Chairman of the Chamber for Fashion), Livia Firth (Creative Director at Eco-Age), and Sara Sozzani Maino (Head of Vogue Talents and Senior Editor at Vogue Italia). Andrew Keith (President of Lane Crawford), Ruth Chapman (Co-founder of Matches Fashion), Stefan Siegel (Founder and CEO at Not Just A Label) and Desiree Bollier (CEO at Value Retail) will complete this extraordinary competition jury.
The winner will be rewarded with the “Franca Sozzani GCC Emerging Designer of the Year” award in honour of Franca Sozzani, as well as with the opportunity of participating into the next Milan’s Fashion Week in February 2018, and the possibility of entering an exclusive retail partnership.
