Entrepreneurs Francesco Viozzi and Sophia Liu founded OA Non-Fashion in 2019 with the intent to communicate their simple vision that ‘there are people who don’t want fashion’. Approaching the brand through a creative lens, the pair cut through the clutter by focusing on comfort and community over nonsensical noise. Simple, yet thoughtful – each design is created without age or gender limits. Made from materials of utmost quality and comfort, OA Non-Fashion respects the environment at every step both literally and figuratively, through their conscious commitment to sustainable practices. Proudly hand-crafted in Italy, the iconic Chelsea boot collection for FW20/21 is composed of Evolo Suede, ensuring that 30-50% of manufacturing waste is recycled. Unlike regular suede, Evolo is free from harsh metals such as chrome, and when tanned with natural tannins from trees and plants, it also maintains its rich and vibrant colour.
The thermoplastic rubber outer sole is durable, flexible and resistant, designed for having direct and regular contact with the earth. The brand goes even further for the environment with their bloom algae footbeds. Blending the protein-rich algae biomass with EVA, through heat pressure and time, high rebound and flexible footbeds are created. Sourcing all their product locally in Italy not only supports local businesses, but cuts environmental damage exponentially. The duo’s commitment to community is reflected in their initiative for the FW20/21 collection, to donate a percentage of the proceeds to The Great Green Wall. The initiative is led by the African Union, who curate a mosaic of rich green landscapes across the African continent. Meaningful, ethical and beautiful, OA Non-Fashion are pioneers in the eco fashion movement.
